RADIATION GENERATION OF DISLOCATIONS IN ALKALI-HALIDE CRYSTALS,

Abstract

Dislocations were investigated by the etching method. X-ray irradiations was performed on a RUP-200-20-4 stand (tube 3 BPM-200, 65 keV, 10 mA). Neutron irradiation was conducted in a IRT-2000 nuclear reactor. This series of tests showed that throughout the investigated interval of x-ray exposure times (up to 10 h) the density of dislocations in KC1 crystals did not vary; photomicrographs of the same section of a KC1 crystal etched before and after irradiation were absolutely identical. As an example we introduced the photomicrographs for 8 h of irradiation.
