CALCULATION OF PULSE ENERGY AT THE OUTPUT OF AN OPTICAL QUANTUM AMPLIFIER OF A RUNNING WAVE ON RUBY,

Abstract

A formula for the energy density of a pulse at the output of a ruby laser was obtained on the basis of statistical rate equations. The calculation results obtained with the aid of this formula are presented in a series of graphs which make it possible to analyze readily the dependence of the pulse energy on various factors (e.g., crystal temperature) over a wide range of parameters. The calculated curves representing the dependence of pulse energy on the active length of the amplifier are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental data.
