'STRAIN ENERGY AND METASTABILITY OF 3-DIMENSIONAL DISLOCATION ARRAYS'.

Abstract

A summary is given of a program which concentrated on three-dimensional dislocation arrays and has utilized high speed numerical computation to determine stored elastic energy associated with various arrangements of screw dislocations in space. The major portion of the experimental program has concentrated on the relationships which exist among stacking fault energy, cross-slip, the onset of dislocation substructure formation, and the microscopic deformation characteristics of polycrystalline metals and alloys.
