A UNIFIED THEORY FOR CONSTRAINED MINIMIZATION ON HILBERT SPACE.

Abstract

A codification, involving new, as well as known, results from several areas of investigation of the problem of constrained minimization, is presented in a unified geometric treatment. Specifically, a unified theory is given for the local minimization of a smooth functional phi(u), subject to a set of q smooth functional equality constraints psi(sub k) (u) = 0, phi and the psi(sub k) being defined on a Hilbert space H.
