INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE WATER VAPOR RESISTING PROPERTIES OF FIBER CONTAINERS FOR AMMUNITION.

Abstract

Based upon reports from Viet Nam of requirements for additional waterproof protection required for artillery ammunition packaged in Spec MIL-C-2439 fiber containers, an investigation of two approaches to the problem was conducted. First, in order to utilize stocks of ammunition on hand, an evaluation of coatings, bags, sleeves and wrappings that could be applied to these stocks was made. Second, the design of the Spec MIL-C-2439 container was modified and these modifications evaluated. (Author)
