THIN FILM MICROCIRCUITS FOR ROCKETSONDE.

Abstract

Results of the study of thin film microcircuits application to radiosonde circuits for the AN/AMQ-23 (XE-1) rocketsonde are summarized. The design, processing, and resultant properties of tantalum thin film resistors and capacitors are described and evaluated. Both components were found applicable to rocketsonde circuits. The application of thin film techniques to specific circuits (blocking oscillators, solid state commutator, and r-f section) is discussed. A blocking oscillator was successfully fabricated. A thin film equivalent of the solid state commutator was designed but proved to be impractical from the standpoint of simplicity and economy. The portions of the r-f section amenable to thin film techniques were not sufficient to warrant further development. (Author)
