FALSE DME REPLY PROBLEM.

Abstract

The preliminary phase involves a study of and a report on the so-called 'false DME reply problem' based upon information and data collected and furnished by the FAA. The second phase requires the design, fabrication, and installation of modification kits into two FAA ground beacon receivers for the purpose of facilitating further evaluation and test of the so-called 'false DME reply problem.' Instruction books for the modification kits were supplied as specified. The final phase consists of conducting air-to-ground tests at an operational facility selected by the FAA using the modified receivers. This report chronologically summarizes the essential details of each of the three separate phases. (Author)
