ABSORPTION OF OXYGEN AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES (300 - 900 K) IN THE SCHUMANN-RUNGE SYSTEM.

Abstract

The photoelectric spectrum of molecular oxygen has been recorded between 1750 and 2020 A at 300, 600, and 900 K at an instrumental bandwidth of 0.075 A. Over 1000 new lines have been observed, most of which have been identified as arising from the v'' = 1 and 2 levels of the X triplet Sigma(-) ground state. A modified curve-of-growth technique has been used to determine the oscillator strengths of the v'' = 0, 1, and 2; v' = 5 to 13 bands. Estimates of the line widths have been obtained.
