RESEARCH DIRECTED TOWARD EXCITATION OF MAGNETOACOUSTIC WAVES AT MICROWAVE FREQUENCIES.

Abstract

The instability threshold has been derived for several processes involving transversely pumped magnetoelastic waves in YIG. The resonance properties of FeF3 have been studied at 70 GHz. The spin configurations and resonance frequencies for a two-sublattice model of a canted orthorhombic antiferromagnet have been examined. Unstable spin waves have been parametrically excited by transverse phonons travelling in a Ga-YIG cylinder and sphere. Scattering of magnetoelastic modes by a free boundary was analyzed. (Author)
