Abstract

The synoptic code has been issued as a Federal Meteorological Handbook to meet the requirement that all United States agencies having meteorological establishments use the same instructions for coding their surface synoptic reports. This Handbook provides information on the variations and additions to the synoptic code used in the United States and elsewhere.
