FRACTURE TOUGHNESS OF CERAMIC MATERIALS USING THE SINGLE-EDGE-NOTCHED SPECIMEN.

Abstract

The possibility of using the single-edge-notched specimen for fracture toughness testing of ceramic materials has been investigated. Five materials were used in this study as follows; borosilicate glass, magnesia, alumina A, alumina B, and crystalline glass. For three of the materials, where the data of other investigators were readily available, good agreement was obtained. (Author)
