CALCULATING MACHINES AND THEIR OPERATION (SELECTED CHAPTERS),

Abstract

A description of the design and operating principles of keyboard calculating and punching machines used for the mechanization of calculation and computer operations is presented. Also a description of the methods and operation processes of these machines is given. The following subjects are covered in the selected sections from Chapters 5, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 of this book: (a) Askota 170/55 machine; (b) PD-45 two-period keypunch; (c) P80-6 Keypunch; (d) K80-6 verifier; (e) sorting machines; (f) RPM80-2M (RPM45-2M) distributing-sorting machine; (g) T-5M tabulator; (h) information on totalizing punchers; (i) function of patch-board jacks; and (j) description of some of the most recent calculating machines and general trends in their development.
