SOME NORMATIVE IMPLICATIONS OF A SYSTEMS VIEW OF POLICYMAKING

Abstract

The purpose in this presentation is to combine the normative orientation with a simple general systems approach in order to explore some approaches to the improvement of public policymaking. The purposes in doing so are to illustrate the possibilities of using a simple general systems approach for improving complex systems; to stimulate work on the improvement of public policymaking; and to try and lay more foundations for a new interdiscipline of policy science, based in part on a fusion between organization and management sciences and concepts of general systems theory.
