TECHNICAL DATA MANAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM HELD AT WASHINGTON, D. C., SEPTEMBER 12-14, 1967, ON MANAGING THE WEIGHTS AND VERTICAL CENTER OF GRAVITY DATA REPORTING SYSTEM,

Abstract

The weights and vertical centers of gravity reporting system was originally maintained on a card file. Upon receipt of a list of Government Furnished Equipment to be installed aboard ship, the applicable cards would be pulled and the information typed on sheets for distribution. This file soon became unmanageable because of its size and human error factor. An ADP system was developed in conjunction with NMCSA and the F Cog Logistics Code. The system uses a master equipment file which was developed from the old card file and two files from the logistics code which contain ship equipment requirements. (Author)
