TECHNICAL DATA MANAGEMENT SYMPOSIUM HELD AT WASHINGTON, D. C., SEPTEMBER 12-14, 1967, ON RELATIONSHIP OF TECHNICAL DATA MANAGEMENT TO INTEGRATED LOGISTIC SUPPORT,

Abstract

Today because of the complexity of Naval ship systems and the high cost of these systems, there is a real need for an integrated and systematic approach to the acquisition of the right kinds and amounts of data the Navy needs for accomplishing its mission. When planning a system acquisition, therefore, it is important to realize that data 'packages' are intended for specific purposes. The objective of this paper is to explain or demonstrate how ILS objectives, through the application of ILS procedures are related to, and complement, objectives of technical data management.
