GREAT LAKES SOLAR ALTITUDE CHARTS AND TABLES.

Abstract

Solar altitudes for 41-49 degrees N latitude, thereby including the Great Lakes region, are presented as a function of solar declination and true solar time in both tabular and graphic forms. Standard astronomical equations were programmed for computer calculations in step widths of 1 deg, 30 min, and 10 minutes for the latitude, declination, and time of day, respectively. Solar altitude variation analysis according to time of the year and geographical location indicates widely variable conditions in the region. Sample daylight duration and sunrise-sunset calculations are given using the tables. (Author)
