ILLUMINATING SCALPEL FOR MILITARY FIELD USE.

Abstract

A scalpel containing its own light and power source for military field use has been designed and prototyped during the first stage of a project concerned with illumination by fiber optics in dentistry. The device has proved useful in limited clinical trials. Methods for achieving more satisfactory light intensity while keeping the power source small are being explored. (Author)
