PHYSICAL ORGANIC CHEMISTRY OF IMINES AND IMINIUM IONS.

Abstract

A summary is given of a study of structural effects on the stability of imines as shown by equilibrium constants for the formation of imines from isobutyraldehyde and primary amines. Also involved are studies of the kinetics of the reaction of isobutyraldehyde and methylamine and of the hydrolysis of the N-isobutylidene-methylamine formed in this reaction. (Author)
