THE ELECTRON-OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF IMAGE CONVERTER,

Abstract

Graphs are given, showing the dependence of coefficients A, k, the position of Gauss-image plane, and linear magnification on inter-electrode spacing. An approximate formula for calculating distortion-coefficient is derived, which agrees fairly well with experimental result. Design factors are discussed. The authors also determined the percentage of distortion empirically by means of a transparent calibrated plate. The percentage by empirical determination is 7%. Distortions occur in the region and in the field distribution near the cathodes. Distortions can also be caused by electrode configurations.
