THE GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Abstract

The ultimate objective of the program is to develop research methodology by means of which the occurrence of a particular disease may be correlated with a variety of sociological, physical and environmental factors such as population density, races, ethnic groups, altitude, temperature, humidity, character of the soil, agricultural products, possible insect vectors and animal reservoirs of disease. The immediate objective of the program is to provide data in the form of disease distribution maps and atlases, showing prevalence, incidence, and severity of specific infectious diseases throughout the world.
