SPACECRAFT UTILIZING THE LIFTING AND BALLISTIC REENTRY TECHNIQUE.

Abstract

An analytical survey and an annotated bibliography are given concerning the following aspects of lifting and ballistic reentry: High-speed aerodynamics, including rarefied gas flows, and design of minimum-drag bodies; high-speed aerothermodynamics, including kinetic heating, injection cooling, and ablation shielding; high-speed flight mechanics, including spacecraft motion and control, ballistic and power-flight trajectories, and meteorite hazards.
