NEURONAL ACTIVITIES IN THE REGULATION OF FEEDING.

Abstract

The purpose of this series of experiments was to determine VMH and LH neuron sensitivity to glucose. Results indicate that the LH contains glucose and osmosensitive neurons, whereas, VMH neurons are sensitive only to glucose. Both types of cells are also sensitive to acetylcholine and acetylcholine appears to be the mediator of a direct inhibitory pathway from the basolateral amygdaloid nucleus to the LH. (Author)
