STUDIES ON THE ANTIBIOTICS EFFECTIVE AGAINST HELMINTHIC INFECTIONS.

Abstract

Culture filtrates of Streptomycetes were tested to find out if some of them may have effects on the erradication of Schistosoma infections. Nematospiroides dubius obtained from experimentally infected mouse intestine were put into a medium containing the culture filtrate. The filtrates were obtained from more than a thousand strains of Streptomycetes. Some of them proved effective to stop the movement of N. dubius. In the study using Schistostoma japonicum, the method of screening is a problem to be solved first. An attempt was made to determine the size of inoculum of cercariae to kill all mice inoculated. Conclusive results have so far been not yet obtained. Further studies are necessary. (Author)
