CERTAIN RESULTS OF DETERMINING INDIVIDUAL COMPOSITION OF GASOLINE FRACTIONS BY THE METHOD OF GAS-LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY,

Abstract

A gas chromatograph equipped with a 70 m., 0.25 mm. i.d. capillary column coated with squalene and an ionization dector was used to determine 37 of the possible 38 hydrocarbons in the straight run 111C gasoline fractions of 5 Soviet crudes. For the C7-isoparaffins the following ratios were obtained for all crudes: 3-methylhexane and 3-ethylpentane (90:10); 2,3-dimethylpentane and 2,4-dimethylpentane (80:20); and 3,3-dimethylpentane and 2,2-dimethylpentane (50:50). For the C7-cycloparaffins the ratio of cis- to trans-1, 3-dimethycyclopentane is (53:47) and for cis- to trans-1, 2-dimethylcyclopentane it is (12:88). These ratios correspond to the thermodynamic equilibrium at 600K. (Author)
