RADIATION DRYING OF GLUED UNWOVED TEXTILE MATERIAL,
Abstract
Experiments were conducted on drying latex and cotton-based nonwoven materials (laminates) by radiant heat. Drying performance was tested with the irradiation from one and from two sides, with the heater from 80-300 mm away from the material, with voltage of 100-220 v, and with the original moisture of 170-150% by weight of dry material. The coefficient of drying K at various heater temperatures, heater-to-material distances, material thickness, and heating rates was determined and plotted on graphs. Various combinations of the experimental conditions and parameters were also tested. Simultaneous heating from two sides was found more efficient than from one side. Separation of material layers was also investigated under the influence of IR heating. In this respect the two-sided arrangement of heaters was also found more advantageous. L. I. Adigezalov took part in the experiments. (Author)
