EXACT SOLUTION OF CERTAIN DUAL SERIES FOR INDENTATION AND INCLUSION PROBLEMS.

Abstract

Exact solutions are obtained for certain dual trignometric series that arise in the study of mixed boundary value problems with circular boundaries, in two dimensional elasticity. The problems considered are, (1) An indentation problem: an infinite body with a smooth circular inclusion to which a concentrated force is applied, (2) An inclusion problem: a smooth elastic inclusion in an infinite body subjected to uniform tension at infinity.
