Abstract
The paper shows under very general conditions on a convex functions phi E phi(x(t)) < infinity if and only if Summation over j of (phi(j)p sub j) < infinity where X(t) is a continuous time branching (Markov or age dependent) process with offspring generating function h(z) = Summation from j=0 to j = infinity of ((p sub j) (z superscript j)).
