CIVIL AVIATION IN COMMUNIST CHINA SINCE 1949,

Abstract

As part of a continuing program of research on Communist China, memorandum presents the results of a study of the development of operation of Mainland China's civil aviation since 1949. This present piece revises and updates data contained in a June 1966 Memorandum by the same title (see AD-634 191). New data include discussions of changes imposed on civil aviation and the disruption of schedules and routes caused by the Cultural Revolution. Also added is a section on the effects of China's weather patterns on aviation operations. Even though adequate source material is still a problem, the information obtained through this investigation into civil aviation has given some additional insight into the transportation economics of Communist China.
