S-BAND TELEMETRY ANTENNA STUDIES, CAVITY-MOUNTED ARRAY,

Abstract

An experimental cavity-mounted array was investigated to achieve an S-band telemetry design with suitable radiation pattern coverage for research rockets. The cavity-mounted array is a design configuration in which an array is recessed in a cavity-like section. In the study, the geometric parameters of two cavity configurations were investigated. The two configurations are a cylindrical cavity and a conic-wall cavity. For particular combinations of the geometric parameters, suitable radiation coverage was achieved for both configurations.
