USE OF THE REVERSE-COMBINATION DETECTING METHOD TO SUPPRESS MULTIPLY REFLECTED WAVES,

Abstract

When interfaces producing multiply reflected waves are nearly horizontal and those in the deep section are comparatively inclined, it is possible to suppress high-apparent-velocity multiply reflected waves and to distinguish low-apparent-velocity waves reflected from the deep section through a reverse combination of detectors. In this article, directivity and phase characteristics of reverse combination are discussed, with emphasis placed on study of conditions for spherical reflected waves and on description of the peculiarities of operating methods. From analyses of practical results, it is made clear that the reverse-combination detecting method is an effective method of suppressing multiply reflected waves. (Author)
