REACT--A SHIPPING OPERATIONS SYSTEM SIMULATION: GENERAL DESCRIPTION,

Abstract

REACT, an acronym for Requirements Evaluated Against Cargo Transportation, is a computer simulation model developed for use in the study and analysis of shipping operations. The model was designed to be general enough to allow a wide spectrum of shipping operations to be analyzed. REACT allows for the simulation of this shipping operation in which the sources, objective areas, and ship inventory are defined in general terms. That is, the quantity and characteristics of each of these elements is a function of the input data. It follows, therefore, that with this degree of flexibility the model can simulate a wide variety of system configurations. (Author)
