PRELIMINARY STUDIES OF LIQUID BEHAVIOR IN A LOW-G FIELD,

Abstract

A preliminary analysis to determine the stable configuration of liquids in a gravitational field was carried out. The results obtained are in agreement with those previously determined for the cases of a zero-g field and a 1-g field. The nondimensionalized, nonlinear, second order differential equation, resulting from a variational problem and solved in the form of an infinite series, suggests that similarity tests can be carried out in a laboratory instead of in an airplane.
