EMISSIVITY OF THE ATLAS STAINLESS STEEL SKIN,

Abstract

The monochromatic and total normal emissivities of the Atlas skin material (No. 301 stainless steel), were determined for the temperatures 200C, 350C, and 500C as well as for various surface conditions. The results were obtained over the wavelength range from 2 to 15 microns by both direct measurement of the emissivity of a heated sample, and by indirectly determining the emissivity from reflectivity measurements of a sample at room temperature.
