PRINCIPLE TASKS AND TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMATIC PROCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS,

Abstract

The necessity is pointed out for automating process control because the man who makes decisions re: the process control is overloaded; the actual average load is 8--10 binary units per sec while the carrying capacity is only 20--25% of that. This overload causes (15--20%) losses connected with outrages and under utilization of equipment. Automatic control systems are classified into: informational, information-advisory, information-control, and control systems. The control systems constructed or currently under development in the USSR are briefly reviewed.
