Abstract
Accounts are given of the following lines of research and instrumentation development projects: (1) Duration of the foot in relation to the number of component sound-segments; (2) Variability of the phonemic components of English words; (3) Reaction time experiments in the study of speech processing; (4) Preliminary study of Australian vowels; (5) Acoustic and perceptual study of selected distinctive features; (6) Larynx movement detector; (7) Experiment on speaker recognition; (8) Nonprevocalic intrusive R in urban Hampshire; (9) Research on methods of increasing the effectiveness of language laboratory techniques; (10) Vibration isolation; (11) Acoustic factors basic to the construction of recording and listening facilities; (12) Cubicle recording equipment.
