COMPACT INFRARED HORIZON SCANNER.

Abstract

The report is a summary of progress made towards the development of an effective, reliable IR Horizon scanner which avoids use of bearings. A folded optical system is used for extreme compactness and a small oscillating mirror provides the scanning at very high information rates. A breadboard unit was assembled and found suitable for attaining very high angular position accuracies limited only by the geophysical infrared gradient. (Author)
