MEASUREMENT OF TOTAL NEUTRON CROSS SECTIONS AT THE US ARMY NUCLEAR DEFENSE LABORATORY,

Abstract

The report describes the transmission method for measuring total neutron cross sections. The method of sample alignment and transmission minimization are discussed. In addition, a review of the theory is given. Results for total neutron cross sections of gadolinium, calcium, and potassium, obtained by the transmission method, are presented. (Author)
