A STUDY OF A LIQUID IMPREGNATED DISCONTINUOUS FILAMENTARY COMPOSITE METAL SYSTEM - ALUMINUM ALLOYS-RENE 41.

Abstract

The report discusses a discontinuous filamentary composite metal system composed of a nickel based superalloy (Rene 41) wire in an aluminum alloy matrix. As the fabrication method, liquid metal impregnation was used. Studies were made on wetting and reactivity, matrix ductility, and aspect ratio. Observations are presented on the mechanical behavior as a function of these system parameters. (Author)
