DISSOCIATED PRISMATIC DISLOCATION LOOPS,

Abstract

Transmission electron microscopy observations on heterogeneous precipitation in dilute aluminum-base silver alloys tend to support a previously proposed model for dissociated prismatic dislocation loops. During the initial stage of precipitation, the perfect dislocation loop splits into partials, thus forming a continuous ribbon of precipitate, on the pair of close-packed planes which are common to the perfect Burgers vector.
