POINT TO POINT BALLISTIC INTERCEPT IN SPACE,

Abstract

There exists a need for a relatively efficient way of determining all those instantaneous velocity vectors (of magnitude extending into the hyperbolic flight region) at some initial point in space which will enable a ballistic intercept with some designated final point in inertial space. Additionally, the time of flight for such an elliptic, parabolic, or hyperbolic transfer is pertinent. The purpose of the report is to make available that part a kinematic investigation which provides such information over a sufficiently wide range of conditions and entails a minimal amount of calculation and interpolation, in its use.
