'SEMISYNTHETIC PENICILLINS' --- REBUILDING OF PENICILLIN MOLECULAR STRUCTURE,

Abstract

A review is given of the modification of the molecular structure of penicillin due to successful isolation and preparation of 6-APA and 7-ACA, the consequent discovery of broad spectrum penicillin BRL-1341, etc., and improvement of the therapeutic effect of antibiotics. In conclusion, the author stresses the importance of further studying the derivatives of 6-APA and 7-ACA, the affinity and osmosis of antibiotics to specific histionic parts, and modification of the hundreds of newly discovered antibiotics that could not be used in therapy due to defectiveness.
