USING ETsVM (ELECTRONIC DIGITAL COMPUTERS) TO DESIGN ETsVM,

Abstract

Many of the most labor- and time-consuming stages in the designing of computers (and of various other automatic systems as well) are based on specific rules and hence logically could be programmed and carried out with the aid of computers. These stages normally consist in: (1) drafting of technical task, (2) drafting of block diagrams of the computer and its elements, (3) compilation of flowcharts for elements of the computer, (4) drafting of functional diagrams on the basis of the flowcharts, (5) separation of functional diagrams into structural elements (modules, panels), (6) drafting of wiring diagrams. The possibility of using existing computers to automate the designing of some of these stages is discussed on bearing in mind that the existing computers have relatively low speeds and memory capacities, while the new computers being designed markedly surpass their 'designers' in number of components and operative speed.
