A NEW PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINING ORDER QUANTITIES FOR NAVAL AIRCRAFT GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT.

Abstract

The report considers the problem of maintaining an inventory of ground support equipment for Naval aircraft. New equipment must be ordered to allow for random failure of equipment and for changing requirements. An ordering procedure is sought which will control the availability of the necessary equipment. Using the theoretical results of earlier papers, an optimal ordering procedure is presented. The procedure for determining order quantities is described, and some possible difficulties that might arise in implementing the ordering procedure and some solutions to these difficulties are discussed. Some examples of the procedure are given. (Author)
