A KIND OF PURE DEATH PROCESS FROM LETHAL IONIZING RADIATION,

Abstract

A discussion is given of ionized radiation of living cells, which he calls 'target theory.' It has its limitations. It cannot be applied in explaining all biological effects induced by radiation. However, the application is determined by the following three conditions: (1) Increases of radiation dose require that the survival curve should be an exponential one when lethality is investigated; (2) The effect of definite dose and the dose intensity in action are possibly independent of its distribution type; (3) The effect of primary ionization is independent of the wavelength or type of radiations.
