CALCULATION OF THE DISTANCE OF HOP OF SHORT RADIO WAVES FOR A SPHERICAL EARTH AND THE IONOSPHERE,

Abstract

The communication gives the tabulated results of computation of the horizontal range of propagation of short waves. The computations were made on the assumption that the ionosphere is spherical and can be approximated by three intersecting parabolas. The computations were made for frequencies of 15, 20 and 25 Mc/sec for two levels of solar activity (W = 0 and W = 100). The models of the ionosphere were selected to correspond to the summer daytime hours. (Author)
