AN EMPIRICAL FORMULA FOR CONCRETE SLAB PENETRATION BY PLANE PARALLEL GAMMA-RAY BEAMS.

Abstract

An empirical formula is developed which gives the directional distribution of exposure, due to scattered radiation, emerging from a concrete slab for a plane parallel photon beam striking it. The coefficients of the terms in the formula are determined by a least-square-fitting procedure to Monte Carlo results of Berger and Morris. A detailed comparison of integrated results of this formulation and the original data is reported. Computer programs, with illustrative sample problems, are also reported. (Author)
