DESCRIPTION OF THE CNA SCOPE OPERATING SYSTEM,

Abstract

CNA Scope is an outgrowth of the CDC Tape Scope Operating System for the CDC 3400 computer. In the creation of the CNA Scope Operating System, compatibility from the standpoint of the computer user was maintained, with minor exceptions. CNA-CDC Scope compatibility allows the user to reference the CDC-provided user documentation for the 3400, with several reservations. The report deals with CNA Scope history, configuration, backgrounding features, random-access equipment procedures, and a brief outline of the function of each of the resident system routines. Throughout this exposition, emphasis is placed on areas where the CDC Tape Scope and CNA Scope systems differ.
