CERTAIN TOXIGENIC PROPERTIES OF CLOSTRIDIUM PERFRINGENS, TYPES D AND E,

Abstract

Protoxin was isolated in vivo by Bychenko's method (by treating the centrifugate of an 18 hour culture of Cl. perfringens with a 0.5% physiological solution of crystalline trypsin). The toxic properties were determined during and after treatment. The titer taken for the toxin was the smallest lethal dose for mice introduced internally within a 48 hour period. An index of activation was determined by comparing the titers of activated and inactivated toxins. (Author)
