SLOW CRACK GROWTH IN GUN TUBES

Abstract

Crack growth rates, in various environment during high stress-low cycle fatigue testing, load testing and continuous loading were measured in three production gun steels. These results were combined with measured mechanical properties and fracture toughness parameters for comparison with service behavior.
