PREPARATION OF INACTIVATED ADENOVIRUS VACCINES, TYPES 3 AND 7, FOR CLINICAL TRIAL.

Abstract

The purpose of the work was to supply to the Army 2,000 doses each of monovalent inactivated adenovirus vaccines, types 3 and 7. These vaccines were prepared with virus grown on primary simian kidney cells inoculated with pure adenovirus seeds free of all other detectable virus virions and genomes. The bulk harvested virus was filtered, inactivated by treatment with Formalin and irradiation with ultraviolet and filled into 30 cc vials, 31.5 cc per vial. All tests for purity, potency and safety, as required under Public Health Regulations, Additional Standards: Adenovirus Vaccine, sections 73.10 to 73.135 inclusive, were completed satisfactorily for both vaccine lots.
